Here it is from an old college buddy and confidante of mine, J D. This former progressive talk radio host and socialist thinker nailed it with his commentary on things ‘ Das Capital’:
“If they straightforwardly called it ‘ Moneyism’ instead of a $64,000 dollar word whose meaning is a mystery to most Americans, almost nobody could be brainwashed into thinking that ‘ Moneyism’ was a synonym for freedom or liberty… Call this Moneyism for the next 30 years and we’ll see how many people still think it means liberty and freedom! And if the serfs want another highfalutin word for this dictatorship of money and guns then call it FEUDALISM for that’s what it is!” He goes on to label this as a ” Perverse dirty trick that gives aggregate wealth and its well paid minions the ‘ Super Power’.
Baby boomers like this writer and JD have been born and raised in an America that holds Capitalism AKA Moneyism on such a pedestal. From childhood we have all been propagandized into thinking that hard, diligent work is the formula for success. Imagine if Donald Trump’s father was a truck driver and not a real estate predator ( for that is what he was) . You think he would have been able to get the $ One million dollar startup to become a building baron? Look at all those blue blood families, the ones who own the billion dollar horseracing stables along with the ‘ new to the game’ Arab oil money clique. Their wealth was and has been passed onto the children and grandchildren to continue control over other people’s lives.
The political arena was and always will be run by the Super Rich, the ‘ Moneyism’ elite. So long as private money is allowed in electoral politics we will never have a viable and vibrant democracy. What those ‘ Moneyism’ architects have succeeded in doing is perpetrate the LIE that America is a ‘ Democratic Republic’. No sir! I remember in the 1990s when then Senator Paul Simon of Illinois ( a liberal Democrat by the way) made a somber acknowledgment. He related that, while on the campaign trail one day, he returned to his hotel room. He had a slew of messages left for him. ” Honestly, when I went through my messages the first one I decided to answer was the call from a major contributor to my campaign… for that reason only!” Senator Simon spoke out many times for reform of the current electoral system, including public funding of campaigns.
Regardless of how politically or historically astute a person is, if he or she does not have the funds needed to first enter and then conduct a campaign…” Money talks..!” This sad reality trickles down to even local political contests. Check the records and see that overwhelmingly the onewith the most money usually wins! The real hypocrisy is how they still refer to our country as a Democracy! The Super Rich moneyed interests do not give a rat’s ass for democracy. A real democracy would only upset their agenda completely! That is why they have bought control over the mainstream media for a few generations. The pretty and handsome faces looking at you through the camera or engaging you in print are paid servants ( and usually very well paid too). When one of them deviates from the script… they are deleted for various excuses or put on probation.
Opponents of fascism realize that its real definition is a marriage between corporations and government, with the latter doing the bidding of the former. The ideal of a small business America is a thing of the past. It is this corporate world that literally ‘ Owns us’ lock stock and barrel! Moneyism has succeeded in transforming an always terrible Landlord vs. Tenant relationship into outright Feudalism as my friend JD intimated. This absentee landlord syndrome is so sick that many middle and low income working stiffs would have to ‘ Sell their youngest’ to stay in a residence with what the high prices have become throughout America. Just read about how feudalism operated in the past to realize what I am saying. Take Mr. Potter from the great Capra film ‘ It’s A Wonderful Life’ and replace him with a major corporation and you will get my drift.
