TEHRAN (FNA) – Chinese ambassador to Tehran voiced his country’s enthusiasm for augmenting investment in Iran’s oil and energy sector.
The Chinese diplomat made the remarks in a meeting here Tuesday with the chairman of the Iranian parliament’s Energy Commission, Kamal Daneshyar.
During the meeting, the Iranian lawmaker described the two countries’ relations as historical, age-old and profound, and stated Tehran’s willingness to boost cooperation with Beijing in different areas, including economic grounds.
He further noted the increasing significance of energy and the world’s increasing demand for energy supplies, and voiced Tehran’s readiness for China’s investment in Iran’s oil and gas sectors.
The legislator also pointed to the petrochemical and steel industries as well as power plant, oil refinery, railway, highway and dam construction as among proper areas for the two countries’ investment and cooperation.
He also pointed to Iran’s plans for the construction of 20 nuclear power plants in coming years, and termed it an appropriate ground for Tehran-Beijing cooperation.
For his part, Beijing’s ambassador to Tehran noted the two countries’ commonalities, and said that diplomatic ties between the two countries have always moved on a positive track ever since their formal establishment.
He pointed to the two countries’ increased trade and economic exchanges in recent years, specially in the execution of joint ventures in the energy and oil sectors, and reiterated Beijing’s eagerness to increase investment in Iran’s oil and gas industries.
The diplomat also said China is keen to launch cooperation with Iran in transportation and highway construction as well as in cultural, educational and tourism grounds.
