The Arab League will hold an urgent meeting at the level of permanent representatives today to consider possible ways and actions to stop the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released late last night, it was announced that the meeting will take place at the organization’s headquarters in Cairo to discuss measures to end Israeli crimes and genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, particularly the attempts to displace Palestinians from northern Gaza.
According to the Palestinian envoy to the Arab League, Muhannad Al-Aklouk, the request for an extraordinary meeting was submitted by Palestine amid the escalation of Israeli crimes against the defenseless Palestinian people, as reported by Anadolu.
Al-Aklouk urged the Arab League and its member states to take their historical responsibility in addressing these unprecedented Israeli crimes, including mass killings, destruction, forced displacement, and starvation.
Let us recall that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced yesterday that Israel is prohibiting the entry of humanitarian aid into northern Gaza.
As a result of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7 of last year, more than 42,600 people have been killed, mostly women and children, and 99,800 people have been injured. The Israeli war has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.
Israel is facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice due to its actions in Gaza.
