Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on the Islamic world to unite in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese people

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized on Monday the critical need for the Islamic world to put aside differences and unite in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese people in their just struggle against Israeli aggression.

Speaking at the opening of the 40th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul, Erdogan stated that one of the most brutal genocides of the century is taking place in Gaza.

“It is of great importance for the Islamic world to set aside differences and support the Palestinian and Lebanese people,” Erdogan said, adding:

“The Zionist regime and its supporters have committed all forms of oppression and genocide in the past 13 months, but they have not been able to subdue the Palestinians.”

He further stated that Turkey, with the support of Egyptian authorities, has delivered more than 85,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and that “one of the best responses to the Zionist aggression against Gaza and Lebanon would be for as many countries as possible to recognize the state of Palestine.”

Israel continues its devastating offensive on the Gaza Strip since last year’s Hamas attack, despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Since then, more than 43,300 people have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 102,000 have been injured, according to local health authorities.

Israel is also facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice due to the deadly war against the Gaza Strip, Anadolu reports.
