Mottaki: IAEA reports prove Iran’s legitimacy

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki cabled a message on Wednesday to his counterparts at the Board of Governors of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), saying that recent report issued by IAEA proved that Iran has adopted a legal, transparent and responsible behavior in carrying out its obligations and observing IAEA rules and regulations. According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the message, the Mottaki underlined that now that the IAEA has declared that all remaining issues pertaining to Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities have been resolved and that the country has not deviated from its peaceful programs, there is no room for UNSC to take any other action.

The IAEA report indicates that the previous ratifications of UNSC had no technical or legal justification and were only politically motivated, he said.

Continuation of such measures will discredit the UNSC and undermine the status of IAEA among its members, he pointed out.

Iran is to safeguard its legitimate rights within NPT and believe that the misuse of international institutions cannot force the Iranian nation to give up its legitimate rights, he said.

The international community expects that those who tried to raise unfounded allegations about peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities should correct their mistakes, Mottaki said.
