TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s ambassador to Russia said there are consultations between Iran, Russia, Algeria and Qatar to establish a gas cooperation organization like “OPEC”.
According to the Interfax’s report, Gholam Reza Ansari said Wednesday that the main issue of the talks is organizational structure.
He expressed hope that the organization can be useful for both gas producers and consumers and lead to an effective use of such a valuable energy source.
The plan was proposed two years ago by Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Russian media have already quoted Algerian energy minister that gas exporting countries such as Iran, Russia and Qatar are to meet in June to discuss establishment of an organization like Organization of Petroleum Export Countries(OPEC).
