President Assad stresses expansion of ties with Iran

519210-49-02_n3.jpgIran’s First Vice-President, Parviz Davoudi and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad here on Thursday called for further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The two officials underscored the importance of boost in Tehran-Damascus political, economic and cultural relations.

The latest regional developments, particularly the situation in the war-torn Iraq were on the agenda of talks held between President al-Assad and Davoudi.

Davoudi arrived here on Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking delegation.

During Davoudi’s stay, Iran-Syria High Commission sessions is be held. The sessions will be co-chaired by Davoudi and Syrian Prime Minister, Muhammad Naji al-Utri.

Davoudi is also to review issues of mutual interest with his counterpart Farouq al-Shara and several other officials of the country.

Iran-Syria trade exchanges stood at dlrs 200 million in 2007.
