Iran, Saudi Sign Agreement on Extradition of Criminals

TEHRAN (FNA)- Saudi Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Salem is upbeat about the level of Iran-Saudi security ties.

Wrapping up his three-day visit to Tehran, the official noted that both sides have reached a positive consensus on implementing the articles of mutual security contracts that were signed seven years ago, press tv reported.

A treaty on extradition of criminals was among the agreements signed, al-Salem added.

Iran and Saudi Arabia’s joint security commission also reviewed a draft of a new agreement that includes an article stipulating the swapping of suspects who get indicted in Iranian and Saudi courts.

A decision on whether to implement such an agreement will be made in the next session of the committee, the Saudi official noted.

Both sides also discussed ways to counter various crimes in the region, al-Salem concluded.
