TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s ambassador to the UN said the Iraqi government and not foreign forces should be in charge of the country’s security affairs.
According to a press tv report, Mohammad Khazaei made the remark in a Tuesday meeting held at the United Nations on the reconstruction of Iraq.
Khazaei also said that Tehran strongly condemns terrorist activities in Iraq, reiterating that Iran has itself been a victim of acts of terror originating from the neighboring country.
“Only a few days ago, terrorists attacked a group of Iranian diplomats in Baghdad, some of whom were severely injured,” he said.
The Iranian envoy voiced Tehran’s serious support for the Iraqi political process and reconstruction plans.
“Taking into account the constructive policies that Tehran has pursued with regard to Iraq, it is absolutely preposterous to claim that Iran is carrying out activities that lead to insecurity in that country, ” he said.
