Some 50 companies from various Iranian provinces as well as companies from Germany and Italy have participated in the exhibition where they display their products.

“From 13mln tons of petrochemical products (produced by the country), 8.8mln tons valued 5.5mln dollars have been exported to 60 countries of the world,” the managing director of Iran Petrochemical Commerce Company, Zardbani, said during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Last year (Iranian year started 20 March 2007) Iran exported more than 5.5bn dollars of petrochemical products.

Zardbani said that since the beginning of this year (Iranian year started 20 March 2008) 1.5mln tons of petrochemical products have been sold.

Meantime, he said that the floating prices and presentation of goods at the exchange stock have caused some problems for the producers in such a way that there has been a 30 per cent decrease in the production of polymeric products.
