Ahmadinejad Criticizes Unjust Global System

“Over the past three years, I have talked to you about great hopes for a bright future for the human society and some solutions for achieving sustainable peace and cooperation,” Ahmadinejad stated.

“I have also talked about unjust systems governing the world and pressures exerted by certain powers that seek to trample upon the rights of other nations,” the Iranian president added.

He noted that most of the world population, especially the people of Iraq, Palestine, and Lebanon, are being oppressed by certain major powers.

“Today I would like to talk about the main factors behind the current condition of the world and initiatives to tackle them,” Ahmadinejad said.

“It seems that the roots of problems lie in the way one views and perceives the world and humanity, as well as the important issues of freedom, obedience to God and justice.”

Ahmadinejad also urged the UN’s atomic watchdog agency to prepare a report on the nuclear arsenals of the major powers.

He said the International Atomic Energy Agency should compel the major powers to dismantle their nuclear weapons and called on the IAEA to fulfill its commitment to work for total nuclear disarmament.

The Iranian president criticized certain major powers for stockpiling weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, and threatening world peace by planning to install new missile systems.

He also stated that the Iranian nation is committed to defending its nuclear rights, stressing that Iran will not forego its rights despite the pressure from certain major powers.

“Despite the inalienable right of all nations to produce nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes and the fact that Iran’s nuclear program has been transparent and Tehran has been cooperating with the IAEA inspectors and the IAEA has verified the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, some bullying powers are trying to hinder Iran’s nuclear program,” Ahmadinejad told the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly.

“These are the same countries that are producing a new generation of nuclear arms and no international organization is monitoring their programs. The catastrophes in Nagasaki and Hiroshima were perpetrated by one of these powers,” the Iranian president added.

Ahmadinejad stressed that these countries are not really trying to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons but rather want to monopolize advanced technology to use it as a tool to impose their own will on others.

“It is natural that the great Iranian nation will resist the bullying powers and will continue to defend their nuclear rights,” he said.

Ahmadinejad also stated that the UN nuclear agency should inform the international community about how it monitors the nuclear activities of major powers.

He also called for the establishment of a disarmament committee — made up of independent states — to monitor the disarmament of the nuclear powers.

The Iranian president criticized the UN Security Council for ignoring the crimes of the Zionist regime.

“The Security Council cannot do anything, and sometimes, under pressure from a few bullying powers, it even” facilitates the actions of the “Zionist murderers”, Ahmadinejad observed.

The Iranian president also censured the Security Council for failing to halt the atrocities being committed by the United States against the Iraqi people.

“Iraq was attacked under the false pretext of discovering weapons of mass destruction and overthrowing a dictator. The dictator is toppled and no such weapons were found in the country. A democratic government has been established through an election in Iraq, but after (almost) six years the occupiers are still there and are trying to impose colonial agreements on the people of Iraq,” he noted.

They have no respect for the people of Iraq or the Iraqi nation’s dignity, Ahmadinejad added.

Turning to Palestine, he said, “In Palestine, 60 years of carnage and invasion is still continuing at the hands of the occupying regime of Israel. They have established a regime by gathering people from various parts of the world and by displacing and killing the true owners of the Palestinian land.”
