Iranian Officials Off to Kuwait to Discuss Gas Export

A05268073.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian energy officials departed Tehran for Kuwait to discuss the daily transfer of 500 billion cubic feet of gas to the Arab emirate.

“We have already discussed the issue on the sidelines of the recent OPEC meeting in Doha,” Iranian Oil Minister Gholam Hossein Nozari has commented on the issue in recent days.

According to MEED, Iran has agreed to export gas to Kuwait via pipeline. The first phase of the deal is expected to be launched by 2011.

Kuwait has been holding talks with Iranian officials over the deal for the past four years.

Kuwait has been unable to meet its domestic natural gas demand, despite its efforts to increase production.

Iran’s oil minister now heads a delegation of Iranian energy officials on a daylong visit to Kuwait in the hope that an agreement can be reached on the issue.
