TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined that his country may not give up even an iota of its nuclear rights.
The clear policy we are following in the nuclear field comprises progress, presentation of a crystal-clear logic and insistence on our national rights without even one step of withdrawal,” the leader said in a meeting with the Iranian officials from the three branches of power here on Tuesday.
Meantime, Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated Iran’s civilian-only nuclear programs, saying, “Our goal is, of course, fully transparent and humanitarian.”
He said that the Islamic system makes its decisions after long deliberations and insight, reminding that courage can be observed in all the decisions the Islamic Republic officials make.
“When making decisions, our officials also rely on the capabilities of our faithful nation and use proper tactics which are in accordance with the prevalent requirements,” the Supreme Leader added, reminding that the same process is at work when deciding about the nuclear issues.
Noting Iran’s decision for suspending its uranium enrichment activities two years ago, he pointed out that if the country had not experienced voluntary suspension, it would have blamed itself later, “But now after having experienced the option of suspension, we are taking long and strong strides and no one can claim that our path is wrong, because we have already experienced the other option.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran knew what would happen before it initiated to suspend nuclear activities two years ago, “but we wanted to prove that we are seeking peace and we are followers of logic.”
He said the documents and proofs related to the aforesaid events would be released to the public in future.
Elsewhere, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to the failure of the US policies in the region, particularly in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon, and Washington’s efforts to compensate for such defeats, adding, “The United States is seeking to scare regional countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, through raising false issues in a bid push Tehran to isolation. But it may not achieve any results as it has never succeeded in doing so.”
He mentioned, “Raising such unreal issues as the Shiite Crescent or the unfounded propaganda about the trans-regional power of the Islamic Republic serve the same purpose,” and called on the regional states and political activities to show more vigilance.
Stressing that since the onset of the Islamic Revolution Iran has turned into a power and that indications and signs of Iran’s might have grown more evident in recent years, grand Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic’s mightiness is indebted to its resorting to the Islamic values and principles as well as its reliance on the nation, and continued, “Yet, our power and mightiness should never be considered as a threat to the regional governments and nations, because Iran is an earnest supporter of justice and righteousness and a strong opponent of any kind of oppression and aggression.”
Following the Supreme Leader’s remarks, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad briefed the leader and the audience about the one-year performance of the government in the various sectors.
Elaborating on his administration’s achievements in the field of foreign policy, Ahmadinejad pointed to Iran’s nuclear issue and reminded that the government’s active and progressive policy has garnered international support for the country’s access to peaceful nuclear technology.
“Despite intense propaganda and pressures laid on Iran by the international powers, we could garner support of the 118 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), 57 Islamic states, the members of the group D-8 and ECO’s member states, which have all voiced their straightforward and full support for Iran’s right of access and use of nuclear technology,” he reminded.
The chairman of the Supreme National Security Council stressed that his country has always welcomed and used any possibility for having interaction and negotiation with the other side, saying that Iran would continue the same policy in relation with the nuclear issue.
Ahmadinejad stated that Iran’s proposal provides a proper and convenient framework for Iran-West nuclear interaction, but meantime underscored that the Iranian nation would continue its present path of progress insightfully, strongly and fearlessly
