AEI and PCRM on waiting positions

CHISINAU, Moldova

The Alliance for European Integration (AEI) has not yet fixed the place and date of the meeting with representatives of the Communist Party (PCRM), the PL leader Mihai Ghimpu said.

“We, the leaders of the four parties (the PLDM, PL, PDM and AMN – e.n.) will meet and decide who will put forward the initiative,” Mihai Ghimpu said.

Contacted by the Agency, Vladimir Turcan, the former first deputy speaker of the Parliament, said that no one from the PCRM had been contacted. “We are disposed to meet with them anytime,” Turcan said.

He reiterated that the discussions will be based on the five principles announced by the PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin.

The AEI has also formulated five basic principles for the future dialogue with the Communists. “You should pay attention to the statements of the four leaders and see that their principles are similar to ours,” the Co mmunist MP said.

The Alliance for European Integration was formed by the four parliamentary Democratic parties – the PLDM, PL, PDM and AMN. Together they have 53 seats of MP and can choose the Speaker of Parliament and the Prime Minister, not yet the head of state, who is elected by at least 61 votes.

The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin has earlier said that the PCRM is ready for a principled dialogue with all the political forces represented in the new Parliament.

The PCRM insists on talks, but the four parties that formed the coalition repeatedly said that there will be no talks, only dialogue.

The first sitting of the Parliament will take place most probably next week.
