TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Parliament Speaker, in a meeting with the director of Egypt’s interest section in Iran here on Monday, stressed that Tehran-Cairo cooperation serves the interests of the two nations, region and Muslim world.
A statement released by the Media and Information Department of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said that also during the meeting, Haddad Adel described Iran and Egypt as two eastern and western wings of the world of Islam, and stated, “Taking into account the present conditions dominating the world of Islam and the threats that the world Muslims are exposed to, cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Egypt would serve the interests of the two countries, region and world of Islam.”
He further noted the ongoing hues and cries created by the US and the West about Iran’s’ nuclear activities and appreciating Egypt’s support for Iran’s use of peaceful nuclear energy, reminded that Americans are, for sure, well informed of the fact that Iran is only seeking to use the peaceful version of the nuclear technology, “but they are misusing this issue to exert more pressures on Tehran.”
The chief legislative official also referred to the importance of parliamentary relations for the two countries’ all-out ties, and voiced the Islamic Consultative Assembly’s preparedness to form parliamentary friendship groups with the Egyptian parliament.
He also extended an invitation to his Egyptian counterpart to pay an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
For his part, director of Egypt’s interests section in Tehran reiterated his country’s full support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, and stressed Cairo’s insistence on the settlement of the nuclear issue through diplomatic means.
He also noted the two nations’ cordial ties and said that Iranians’ and Egyptians’ sincere love for the Shiites’ Imams and the infallible household of the holy prophet of Islam (PBUH) as well as the two countries’ rich civilizations have contributed significantly to the two states’ cordial relations.
The diplomat further called for the increasing development of bilateral relations between Iran and Egypt.
