SERBIA
The Commission for Establishing Truth about the Murder of Dragoljub Mihailović has dismissed press speculation that he is buried on Ada Ciganlija.
“Information published in certain media that the Commission for Establishing Truth about the Murder of Dragoljub Mihailović received information from military intelligence about the site of his execution, the rose bed on Ada Ciganlija, is disinformation that will certainly not help establish the relevant facts,“ the commission said in a statement.
It was stressed that the commission had “made certain progress in the search for Mihailović’s grave and for other hitherto unknown historical facts on the actual arrest of the general that will be published in the coming days.“
The commission has asked the media to check its facts in future with its authorized representative, namely the Public Prosecution or the Justice Ministry.
The Commission for Establishing Truth about the Murder of Dragoljub Mihailović was formed in April.
The commission, whose chairman is Acting Public Prosecutor Slobodan Radovanović, includes historians, experts on the period, and representatives from the prosecution and judiciary.
Mihailović, who was the leader of the Yugoslav Army in the Fatherland during World War 2, was executed on July 17, 1946.
