Also during the meeting, the Leader praised resistance of the two nations against pressures of the western powers, and described resistance as the right way to encounter arrogant states, reiterating that the insatiable appetite of these powers does not end as long as the oppressed countries choose to compromise.

He said the arrogant countries are weakening while the front of the independence-seeking countries is being consolidated, adding, “The arrogant powers today again strive to foment wars, sow seeds of discord among nations, impose sanctions, exert political pressures and misuse propaganda to find a firm grip over the fate of nations.”

“But after the world nations and independent states showed resistance, we are now witnessing subsequent defeats and failures of the arrogant powers, specially the US administration, in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan and other world regions,” Ayatollah Khamenei continued.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution further described Robert Mugabe as among the courageous and outstanding figures of Africa, and further stressed the legal measures adopted by the Zimbabwean president, including land reforms, as a giant stride towards full materialization of the demands and aspirations of Zimbabwean nation.

Referring to the increasing progresses and developments of Iran in the different scientific, technological and other areas, he expressed the hope that Iran-Zimbabwe ties would further expand through transfer of Iran’s experiences in the said fields and implementation of bilateral agreements.

For his part, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe described his visit with the Supreme Leader as a historical opportunity, and pointing to his government’s measures for the enforcement of the country’s Constitution and materialization of national sovereignty, he added, “After restoring the lands of our black people, Britain, the United States and their allies accused us of violating human rights and tyranny in a bid to destabilize our country while our only crime is making efforts to materialize Zimbabweans’ sovereignty and their right to determine their own fate as well as striving to develop peace in Africa.”

“Despite all the West’s efforts, the Zimbabwean government enjoys public support and we are decisive to continue our campaign against imperialism while relying on our people’s support,” he added.

Pointing to the history of Africa which is full of colonialists’ oppressions and cruelties and the recent crimes of the US and Britain in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as their support for the Israelis’ crimes, Mugabe said, “Those countries which charge you and us with biased accusations should be tried for the too many crimes they have and are committing and we are ascertain that enemies of mankind will be defeated and that Iran will continue its path as powerfully as before.”

Elsewhere in the meeting which was also attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mugabe appreciated Iran’s support for his country, and stressed Zimbabwe’s longing to further consolidate and develop ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

To conclude his words, the Zimbabwean president assured that during his current visit to Tehran the two sides would reach new horizons in their bilateral ties.
