TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Tehran and Stockholm reiterated the need for the development of their parliamentary relations here on Tuesday.According to a report released by the Information and Media Department of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, vice chairman of Swedish parliament’s Foreign Policy Commission and member of Sweden’s Foreign Relations Council Orban Ahlin met with the member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Elham Amin-zadeh to explore avenues of expanding parliamentary relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the need for increasing parliamentary cooperation in a bid to further develop the two countries’ mutual ties and further voiced their preparedness to form parliamentary friendship groups.
Noting Iran’s strategic role in the region, Ahlin stated Sweden’s readiness to launch judiciary cooperation with Iran in anti-terrorism efforts.
Amin-zadeh, for her part, expressed the hope that the two countries’ parliamentary cooperation would pave the ground for further expansion of the existing political and economic ties.
The Iranian MP also pointed to Tehran’s efforts to improve children and women’s rights since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and hoped that exchange of visits by the two sides’ MPs would portray and facilitate reflection of the existing realities and the positive conditions of the Iranian society in Sweden.
