The European Commissioner for energy Günther Oettinger arrives today for a two-day-visit to Bulgaria to discuss energy security issues. Oettinger will meet Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Minister of the Economy Traicho Traikov. He will also give a speech at the Atlantic Council conference, Еuropena Commission press office announced.
Günther Oettinger, Commissioner responsible for energy, said: “I very much look forward to this visit and a full discussion of Bulgarian energy concerns. Energy security is a challenge which no European country can solve on its own. We need to come together and find common solutions in the best spirit of European solidarity.”
Commissioner Oettinger and Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov will have a one-hour-meeting on Monday afternoon, 1 March 2010, at the Council of Ministers, where they will discuss several energy issues, including gas pipeline projects as well as nuclear energy.
On Tuesday, 2 March 2010, Commissioner Oettinger will meet Traicho Traikov, Minister of the Economy, Energy and Tourism, for a breakfast meeting. Following the keynote address of Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov, Commissioner Oettinger will give a deliver a speech on European energy security at the Atlantic Council conference.
