TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Visiting Pakistani Foreign Minister Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri met with chairman of Iran-Pakistan parliamentary friendship group Ali Aghayee here on Thursday.
A report released by the Information and Media Department of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said that during the meeting, the Iranian lawmaker voiced pleasure in the two nations’ profound ties and their age-old historical relations, and stated Iran’s enthusiasm for the further consolidation and development of relations in all areas of mutual interest.
Also noting Pakistan’s stand in Iran’s foreign policy, he stressed the need for the two countries’ close cooperation in all different spheres, including parliamentary and economic areas, as well as continued exchange of visits by the two nations’ parliamentary delegations.
The MP also stressed the point that Iran favors independence and security of all its neighbors, including Iraq and Afghanistan, saying that the Islamic Republic is concerned about the massacre of the innocent civilians in those countries.
He also praised Pakistani government’s positive stances on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
For his part, visiting Pakistani Foreign Minister Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri noted the positive role of parliamentary friendship groups in the expansion of the two countries’ relations, and expressed the hope that Iran-Pakistan-India natural gas pipeline project, which contributes a major share to regional peace (and that’s why it is also known as the peace pipeline), would be implemented as soon as possible.
