TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar in a meeting with his Sudanese counterpart here on Saturday stressed that withdrawal of the US occupying forces is the only way to restore peace and stability in the region.
General Najjar also viewed the United States’ adventurism in attacking civilians in Somalia and raiding Iran’s consulate general in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil as a further indication of Washington’s weakness and paralyzed conditions.
Elsewhere in the meeting, he described Sudan as an age-old friend of Iran, and underlined that the Islamic Republic attaches special significance to its political and defensive ties with Khartoum.
The minister also stated that the strategic standing of Iran in the Middle East and Sudan in Africa, plays a very influential role in regional developments.
Reiterating the need for the expansion and deepening of Iran-Sudan defensive ties, he mentioned that convergence and solidarity of the Islamic countries will facilitate for the progress and development of the Muslim world.
He further elaborated on the potentials and capabilities of Iran’s defense industries, and voiced Tehran’s preparedness to transfer its defensive experiences and capabilities to all Islamic states.
Najjar also stated the Islamic Republic’s preparedness to participate in the developmental projects and reconstruction of southern and western Sudan.
For his part, Sudan’s Defense Minister Field Marshal Abdel Rahim Mohammed Hussein voiced pleasure in his visit to Iran, and described the Islamic Revolution under the late Imam Khomeini as unique in the contemporary history, stressing that the Iranian revolution has brought Muslim hearts closer to each other.
Also noting Iran’s unique standing and role in global and regional developments, he stressed the need for the expansion of mutual ties between the two Muslim states in all areas, defensive ties and cooperation in particular.
The General further stated that Americans strive to blockade progress and development of Muslim countries through different methods, and underlined the Iranian nation’s inalienable right to acquire nuclear energy.
He also underscored that solidarity and unity of the Muslim Shiites and Sunnites plays a vitally important and necessary part in defusing the plots hatched by the enemies against the world of Islam, and reiterated that the Muslim world may attain glory and grandeur only in light of such a unity.
The Sudanese defense minister arrived here on Friday at the head of a high ranking military delegation.
During his 4-day visit which takes place at the invitation of Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, the Sudanese five-star General is due to attend meetings with senior Iranian political and defense officials.
