Moldova, Turkey considering visa cancellation

Moldova and Turkey may well cancel entry visas some day, it was said at the meeting, which Mihai Capatana, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, held with Ferit Гњlker, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Moldova.

The parties agreed to continue their discussion of the existing bilateral visa regime so as to accelerate the procedures necessary for signing, in the nearest future, an Inter-Governmental Agreement on visa regime cancellation.

The Moldovan Government presumes such document should ensure a free movement of Moldovan and Turkish citizens and of foreign capital, and should stimulate the economic sector development in questions of imports and experts, should attract investment in the national economy, and brisk up tourism, cultural and scientific exchanges.

Infotag’s dossier: Turkey is one of Moldova’s important-most trade partners. The trade turnover between the two countries exceeded US$170 million in January-August 2010, and Moldova’s exports to Turkey went up 2.6-fold – up to US$50.8 million.
