Bosnia’s Social Democrats trying to form government

Bosnia’s Social Democrats have announced they will begin the official formation of the Federation government today without main Croat parties, who have suggested they will request early elections.

The constituent session of the House of Peoples in Bosnia’s mainly Bosniak-Croat Federation is expected to begin today at 11 am. According to Sulejman Tihic, the leader of the mainly Bosniak Party of Democratic Action, the session will mark the beginning of the formation of a new government in the Federation, which has spent the past five and a half months in political deadlock.

The signatories of the Social Democrats’ so-called “Platform coalition” – the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, and two small Croat parties, the Croatian Party of Rights and the Prosperity Through Work Party, have dismissed the idea of new negotiations with the main Croat parties- HDZ and HDZ 1990.
