Serbia wants independent organ trade investigation in Kosovo

Serbia wants an independent investigation into human organ trafficking in Kosovo, Serbian Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric said.

Commenting on a proposal that the UN Security Council form a body that would be tasked with the investigation, which will be discussed mid-May, he said that the U.S., Great Britain, France and Germany, were not enthusiastic about the idea and thought EULEX should deal with it.

“EULEX is not the problem, it is the environment in Kosovo, where information leaks are common and witness protection is unsatisfactory,” Vekarić explained.

“That is why we think it is better for the institution in charge of the inquiry to be based outside Kosovo,” he added.
