Catherine Ashton: EU rule-of-law mission in Kosovo is crucial

EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton said on Friday that the EU rule-of-law mission in Kosovo has the full support of all 27 member states.

After visiting Belgrade on Thursday, Ashton headed south to Pristina on Friday and conveyed the message that rule-of-law is critical for Kosovo’s future.

“It’s critical for the future of the people and it’s essential for the ambitions that you have for your work and your development with the European Union,” Ashton told journalists after meeting with the head of EULEX, Xavier De Marnhac, in Pristina.

She said that all 27 EU member states support the mission in Kosovo and asked Kosovars to do so as well.
