United States rejects division of Kosovo

Washington “absolutely rejects the idea of a division of Kosovo as it is dangerous for Kosovo and the entire Balkans”, a U.S. State Department official said.

Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon was in Priština on Thursday.

Gordon once again expressed Washington’s full backing for “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo”, Beta news agency reported.

“That is a clear position. The U.S. was clear concerning a division of Kosovo. We do not support that idea. We are against a division. We do not think that it would be in anyone’s interest,” Gordon stressed.
