Bosnian party leaders to propose a new PM within a week

Bosnia’s party leaders have just over a week to come up with new potential candidates for the post of chair of the Council of Ministers after the last nominee, Slavo Kukic, failed to gain parliamentary endorsement.

After Slavo Kukic failed to survive a second round of voting in parliament last Thursday, Bosnia’s three-member State Presidency has eight days to propose a new candidate.

Zeljko Komsic, Nebojsa Radmanovic and Bakir Izetbegovic have asked party leaders to come up with candidates that have the support of 22 MPs, a prerequisite for formal nomination.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has had no state government and prime minister for nine months now.
