TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari praised Iran and Syria’s initiative for organizing a foreign ministerial meeting of Iraq’s neighboring states in Baghdad.
Iran’s foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari during a phone conversation Monday night further discussed the joint initiative of Tehran and Damascus, a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said.
Zebari also said that the proposal indicates Iran’s benevolent measures and well-intentioned goals in the face of Iraq, and added, “We appreciate this joint initiative sincerely.”
He also said that his country would soon forward invitations to Iraq’s neighbors plus Egypt to attend the said meeting.
Zebari also expressed the hope that in light of the supports extended by Iran and Syria and other countries, the meeting of the foreign ministers of Iraq’s neighboring states would give birth to a new prospect for regional efforts to assist Iraq with the establishment of stability and security.
