Serbia is expected to sign a new stand-by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund, according to Serbian economics minister Nebojsa Ciric.
The minister said that the government would continue to discuss ways to deal with a possible emergence of the financial crisis in Serbia.
He added that the stand-by arrangement would be a precautionary measure of key importance to showing Serbia would not have to fight a new crisis and that it would be able to meet its obligations.
“The agreement should guarantee macroeconomic stability, but is also an indication that the government has a credible economic policy, which is a positive signal to all potential investors,” Ciric explained.
