Bosnia to take actions against asylum seekers

Bosnia announced on Tuesday it will steps against its nationals who abuse the visa-free travel regime to EU countries, in force since late 2010, after warnings from Brussels.

“I am certain that once we gather all the information we will adopt decisions that will be restrictive for all those who abuse the visa-free regime,” Security Minister Sadik Ahmetovic told national radio.

Local media recently published alleged internal documents of the country’s foreign ministry mentioning warnings from Brussels on an important influx of Bosnian asylum seekers in certain Schengen zone countries.

Bosnians were seeking asylum notably in Belgium, Germany, Sweden and Luxembourg, the reports said without providing exact figures.
