Bulgaria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, has extended accolades to Finland’s new position on the country’s Schengen accession.
Mladenov said Sofia is applauding the news and voices certainty the change came through a careful analysis of achievements of both Bulgaria and Romania in securing border control.
“This is a great development for us. Of course, from here on, there is plenty of work to be done, a lot to be achieved. This does not mean the decision has been made. I hope that the European Council will, once again, discuss the issue in December, as is the wish of EU President, Herman Van Rompuy,” Bulgaria’s top diplomat stated.
