The interior ministry of the Serb entity sent a complaint to the State Prosecutor on Tuesday demanding it reconsider termination of the Dobrovoljacka war-crime probe.
The letter follows the decision of an international prosecutor, Jude Romano, engaged by Bosnia’s State Prosecution, to drop an investigation into 14 Bosnian war-time officials suspected of involvement with the Dobrovoljacka case on January 17.
The decision caused an outcry in Bosnia’s predominantly Serb entity, Republika Srpska, where many complained of judicial partiality.
In its letter, the Bosnian Serb interior ministry asked the State Prosecutor to “wholeheartedly reconsider the evidence” and appoint another prosecutor instead of Romano to the case.
The row concerns the killing of seven people and the wounding of another 14 in Dobrovoljacka Street, in May 1992, when a convoy of the Yugoslav People’s Army, JNA, was pulling out of Sarajevo at the beginning of the 1992-95 war in Bosnia.
