US says provocations must be avoided on Cyprus

Cyprus must avoid any provocations that could risk the region’s stability amid the intention to conduct energy exploration, Washington announced before of the U.N. secretary-general’s decision on the future of Cypriot reunification talks.

The message was addressed to both sides during recent political talks by senior U.S. officials. The Cyprus situation was discussed when the US and Turkish foreign ministers met in Istanbul on April 1.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is also expected to express his conclusion on Cyprus.
