Serbia could remove footnote condition for Kosovo

Stepping back from its hard-line stance, Belgrade may agree to take part in international meetings alongside Kosovo without the use of the previously agreed, but controversial, footnote.

In a major concession on Kosovo, Serbia may drop its insistence that Kosovo only takes part in international and regional meetings with a footnote beside its name.

Serbia’s new Vice-President for the EU integration, Suzana Grubjesic, and the Director of the Government’s EU Integration Office, Milan Pajevic, are currently working on the proposition.

Kosovo and Serbia agreed a complex formula by which Kosovo can be represented at regional forums in February this year.

But so far the agreement has not been implemented, and as a result Serbia has either boycotted or walked out of meetings to which Kosovo was also invited.
