Tunisian president will visit Turkey on Tuesday

Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki will pay a two-day visit to Turkey on Tuesday to have talks with senior Turkish officials.

Marzouki, who is visiting Turkey upon the invitation of Turkish President Abdullah Gül, is scheduled to address the Turkish Parliament on Wednesday.

Marzouki will be accompanied by a great delegation of ministers and businessmen. According to the Turkish Presidency Press Office, Marzouki’s trip to Turkey comes as a return visit to Gül’s stay in Tunisia in March 2012.

The visit is considered a significant one as it will be the first visit on a presidential level from Tunisia to Turkey since the revolution ended on Jan. 14, 2011. The revolution created a domino effect in other Arab nations.

The visit will also strengthen ties between Turkey and Tunisia based on a strategic partnership agreement signed in December.
