Syrian Opposition Interim PM steps down

Interim Prime Minister of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces Ghassan Hitto announced his resignation on Monday, nearly four months after his appointment.

Hitto, who was elected as the interim PM of the Syrian National Coalition on March 18, 2013, expressed hope that his resignation would end “political polarization” in the coalition.

“I announce I will not continue my duties as the interim prime minister, though I emphasize I will continue working for the interests of the revolution and towards achieving its objectives,” Hitto said.
