UN Secretary General calls on Egypt to prevent further loss of life

imgUN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called on Egyptians to prevent the further loss of life amid heightened tensions between supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi and the interim government.

He called on Egyptian authorities and Muslims Brotherhood group to exercise leadership and responsibility to do whatever can be done to prevent further loss of life among the Egyptian people.

Ban applauded the courage and commitment of the Egyptian people to exercise their right in peaceful gathering and expressing their opinion during the 25th January revolution, urging all those in power and as well as those protesting in streets to reconsider their actions and language.

He also urged Egyptians to avoid actions and words likely to be perceived by others as provocative and to create, instead, new approaches towards a genuine political process that would promote reconciliation.
