Serbian President, Russian Ambassador discuss South Stream Project

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić says Serbia’s course is clear as it wants to have close cooperation with Russia that does not hinder the country’s EU integration process.

During Wednesday’s meeting between the Serbian president and Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Chepurin it was concluded that all preparations for the beginning of works on the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline in Serbia are happening according to the plan and the start of construction works is expected in December 2013.

The project of reconstruction of the railways in Serbia, which is carried out by Serbia and Russia, should improve Serbia’s railway infrastructure in the next five years and create far more favorable conditions for foreign investments, reads a statement by the president’s press office.
