Visiting French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said Monday in Algiers that the friendly relations binding Algeria and France would allow for new perspectives, as the two Mediterranean nations inked 9 cooperation agreements in various fields.

Ayrault told reporters after talks with his Algerian counterpart Abdelmalek Sellal that the two countries have had a growing relationship of trust for a year, adding that there is an “ambitious partnership of equals.”

On Monday, Algiers and Paris signed 9 partnership agreements in various areas of cooperation, including an agreement on political dialogue and the work of the Inter-governmental Committee, an agreement to abolish mutual visas for holders of diplomatic passports, a partnership agreement on technical assistance in the field of transport, and pledges to cooperate in the field of construction, in addition to an agreement on cultural exchange for the period of 2014-2016.
