India successfully tests nuclear missile

India on Monday successfully test fired the nuclear-capable Agni-IV missile from Wheeler Island off the coast of the eastern Indian state of Odisha, government sources said.

The surface-to-surface missile was launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located on the island, sources said.

With a strike capability range of about 4,000km, the missile weighs 17 tonnes and is 20m long.

The strategic missile can carry nuclear warheads and has not yet been inducted into the army, added the sources.
