India and China on Monday held border talks in New Delhi during which both sides reviewed recent developments in the Indo-China border areas especially in the Western Sector, Indian foreign ministry stated.
The ministry said the talks of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs was held in a candid atmosphere and also decided the implementation of the Border Defence Cooperation Agreement (BDCA).
India and China inked the BDCA during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Beijing last October.
Additional confidence building measures and further steps for maintaining peace and tranquility along the borders were also discussed, it added.
During the talks, the Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary (East Asia), Indian foreign ministry Gautam Bambawale, representatives of defence, Home Affairs, and the members from Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
