Barroso says EU to urgently agree sanctions against Ukraine

The European Union is expected to urgently agree sanctions against those responsible for the violence in Ukraine, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso confirmed.

Barroso repeated the EU’s stance that the bloc will respond to any deterioration on the ground.

In an official declaration, he expressed his hope that member states will perceive the agreement of measures as a matter of urgency.

The EC President also called on all sides to immediately put an end to violence and engage into a meaningful dialogue.
