Mauritania’s President described Iran’s position as outstanding among all Muslim states, saying that Iran treats devilish acts with benevolence and benediction. A statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said that Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arabian and African Affairs Mohammad Reza Baqeri met with Mauritania’s new President Sid Mohammed Sheikh Abdollah.
During the meeting, Baqeri, who is in Nouakchott to take part in the oath of office ceremony of the new president of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, extended Iranian president’s congratulations to Sheikh Abdollah on his election as the new president of Mauritania.
He further noted Iran’s position and role in regional and international issues, and stressed the need for the formation of Islamic unity among Muslim countries.
The Iranian diplomat also pointed to Iran’s industrial and agricultural potentials, and voiced Tehran’s readiness to expand ties with Mauritania and transfer its experiences to that country.
For his part, Mauritania’s new president thanked the Iranian delegation for having attended his oath of office ceremony, and stated his country’s full preparedness to develop all-out relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Elsewhere, he said Iran enjoys a very remarkable standing and status among all Islamic countries, and stressed that Iran has resorted to benediction and benevolence when faced with devilish acts.
Sid Mohammed Sheikh Abdollah was elected as Mauritania’s president late last March for a five-year term, which started just yesterday after he took oath of office.
