Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces, in a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki on Friday, welcomed bolstering of economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.A statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said that the two ministers studied expansion of political and economic relations and cooperation between the two governments.
Also during the phone talk, Mottaki pointed to the agreements reached by the two presidents in their Kyoto Summit on mutual inauguration of embassies and devising of new mechanisms for fresh and enhanced cooperation in areas of trade, economy and industry, particularly in the oil and gas sectors.
He further reminded that an envoy from the Iranian foreign ministry is currently in Ecuador to follow up on the implementation of the said agreements.
For his part, Ecuadorian foreign minister appreciated Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s attendance at the Korea’s oath of office ceremony, and called for the boosting of economic cooperation between the two countries, considering the existing potentials and the two presidents’ emphasis in this regard.
He also thanked Iranian foreign ministry for dispatching an envoy to Ecuador, and assured that he would cooperation best with the said individual to help implement the agreements already concluded between the two states.
