United States Vice President Joe Biden spoke on Friday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to follow up on their meeting in New York on September 25, the Office of the Vice President announced.
The two discussed ways the United States and Turkey can work together to degrade and destroy the Islamic State (ISIL) and restore security and stability to the region, the announcement said.
The jihadist group, ISIL, which aims to establish its own state through invading large swathes of territory throughout both Syria and Iraq, is being targetted in large scale US-led international allied aerial attacks.
