Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi met, Friday, with his Egyptian counterpart Abdelfattah Al-Sissi on the 24th African Union Summit held from January 30 to 31 in Addis Ababa.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Beji Caid Essebsi said talks focused on terrorism facing the two countries.
The Libyan crisis was also addressed during the meeting, he added.
“We are against any foreign intervention in Libya and we welcome any initiative that would ease tension in this country,” Beji Caid Essebsi said.
The Head of State described the Tunisian-Libyan relations as historic saying: “we must work on strengthening bilateral relations which would benefit the two nations,” he added.
Caid Essebsi expressed, in his speech at the opening of the AU Summit, condolences to the President and people of Egypt in the wake of the terrorist attacks in the North of Sinai which claimed 30 deaths, most of them servicemen.
