The Foreign Ministry has condemned terrorist attacks that killed at least 14 people on Sunday in Egypt’s North Sinai and expressed its solidarity with the Egyptian people.
In a statement issued on late Monday, the Foreign Ministry said: “We condemn the terrorist attacks which were committed on April 12 in North Sinai’s provincial capital. May God rest the souls of the victims who died in the attack. We extend our condolences to the families of the victims and wish the wounded a fast recovery.”
On Sunday, at least 14 people, mostly police officers, were killed in separate attacks when militants struck a police station in North Sinai’s provincial capital and hit a passing armored vehicle with a roadside bomb. “Turkey will continue to remain its solidarity with the Egyptian people,” read the statement.
Egyptian security forces in North Sinai have been targeted by a number of terrorist attacks recently, and an affiliate of the terrorist Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for these attacks.
