AU official: political solution is the only option for Libya

There is “no alternative” to the “quick” implementation of the political solution in Libya, Minister for the Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel declared.
Questioned on Thursday by APS on the conclusions of the meeting held on Wednesday in Berlin on Libya, Messahel welcomed the fact that “it is now clear that the international community shares the
same perception of the crisis and that the convergence of views, readings and analyses that emerged from this meeting on the situation in Libya, as well as the positions expressed by all the participants, favour the “quick” implementation of political solution to which there is no alternative.”
He has also hailed “the willingness of the international community to give priority to dialogue as the only way to enable it to achieve the political solution desired by the Libyan people which demonstrated full commitment to a political settlement of the crisis, by participating, through its representatives, in the different political dialogue tracks under the auspices of the United Nations.”
According to Messahel, “the reconciliation and dialogue initiatives begun among some parties and factions in Libya direct this internal positive momentum, which leads, alongside the efforts of neighbouring countries and the entire international community, to the culmination of the process of ending the crisis without foreign interference.”
