EU vows continued support to political, economic process in Tunisia

Tunisian Foreign Minister Taïeb Baccouche, who is paying a working visit to Brussels, Thursday met with European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini.
He also conferred with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.
The European officials said the European bloc is committed to accompanying continuously the political and economic process in Tunisia by means of mobilising the diverse tools of support and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
There is need to coordinate the action of member states as regards security capacity-building, training and equipment, they also highlighted.
Talks also focused on the implementation of the support measures announced by the EU in the aftermath of June 26 Sousse terrorist attack.
Means to speed up the implementation of the EU-Tunisia Action Plan for privileged partnership were also looked at, particularly in relation to the official launch of talks on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), security, support to economic and social reforms and cooperation in higher education and scientific research.
