Sheybani to Leave Central Bank in Future

A024709828.jpgDirector of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ibrahim Sheybani is due to be replaced in the near future. It is not yet clear if he has resigned or been dismissed from service by President Ahmadinejad, but his change is viewed as a part of a recent cabinet reshuffle which has already resulted in the change of oil and industries minister.

Sheybani’s next post will be representing Iran in the World Bank (WB).

His resignation or change is also viewed as a part of large-scale changes in the banking system of the country, which has long been sought by the president.

Meantime, an informed source told FNA that former economic affairs and finance minister in Khatami’s administration, Tahmasb Mazaheri, is Ahmadinejad’s first choice for replacing Sheybani.

Ahmadinejad has already voiced satisfaction from the several plans and programs presented to him by Tahmasb Mazaheri who is currently the managing director of Iran’s bank of exports promotion.
